Ulun Danu Beratan: The Floating Temple of Tranquility in Bali
Saturday, 31 May, 2025

Located in the highlands of Bedugul, Ulun Danu Beratan Temple is one of Bali’s most iconic landmarks. Often referred to as the “floating temple,” it appears to hover over Lake Beratan’s surface, especially when water levels are high. Surrounded by misty mountains and cool air, the temple offers a tranquil and spiritual atmosphere.

Built in the 17th century, it is dedicated to Dewi Danu, the Balinese goddess of water, lakes, and rivers. Besides being a sacred site, Ulun Danu Beratan is also a favorite for photography thanks to its stunning lakeside setting.

Visitors can enjoy the fresh mountain breeze, stroll through beautifully manicured flower gardens, or rent a small boat to see the temple from the water. The best time to visit is in the early morning, when the mist and soft sunlight create a magical, serene mood.
